Recently, I had the good fortune to come across a set of the 3 volume Selected Works of Georgi Dimitrov. In reading through these texts, I’ve gained an entirely new appreciation for this great Marxist-Leninist.
What immediately struck me in reading the works of Comrade Dimitrov was his great warmth and basic humanity. It’s clear that he had a deep, and genuine, concern for the Proletariat as a whole. Many Communist writers tend to focus solely on their own nationality, with only minor references to the Proletariat as a whole. Comrade Dimitrov (and Comrade Lenin), on the other hand, clearly knew that the whole of the working class was important.
Comrade Dimitrov knew the danger of a fractured Communist Party. All one has to do is to look at the United States to see the truth of this idea. In the U.S. there are many Communist groups that are totally independent, none of them making common cause (in fact, many are at odds), and they are virtually powerless. The Bourgeoisie fears Communism, but they laugh at the Communist parties that are active in the United States. We have no power, and no influence.
Comrade Dimitrov was passionate, committed, compassionate, and willing to put Marxist-Leninist ideas into practice. The Communist world lost a great man when he died, and modern Communism would do well to re-discover him.
Marxism-Leninism-Dimitrovism, Communism for the future!
